about

We're not ourselves when our hearts are broken. We might lie to our families, our friends, and even ourselves about how we're doing, putting on a brave face even though we might be falling apart. On his latest single, the pining "Still Missing You," David Myles explores the rudderlessness of days coloured by a heavy dose of heartache.

"I tell my friends what I’ve been doing, what’s keeping me out since you’ve been gone," Myles sings between delicate guitar flourishes taken care of by longtime collaborator Alan Jeffries. "I lie about books I’ve been reading, about all of the ways I’m moving on."

Devil Talking's latest single floats along in a romantic haze, mimicking the irresistible allure of melancholy and reminiscence that rises up when one yearns for a lover who's left the picture. In his words, Myles' narrator captures the drift of lonesome, regular days and interactions with loved ones where he tries to stay strong. May Erlewine's dreamy vocal contributions complete the picture; as a huge fan of Erlewine's work, Myles wrote her a note on a whim to ask if she'd sing on "Still Missing You," and to his surprise she said yes. "She nailed it," Myles says. "A beautiful tone; like the voice of that former lover, whispering to us as we go to bed."

"Sometimes a sad song is just what we need to feel less alone," he adds.

lyrics

Lyrics:
I tell my friends what I’ve been doing
What’s keeping me out since you’ve been gone
I lie about books I’ve been reading
About all of the ways I’m moving on

Cause I fall apart every morning
And I fall apart every afternoon
I hope it will change but every evening
I fall asleep still missing you

I tell my mum that I’ve been dating
She tells her friends I’m on the mend
My sister’s kids think that I’m so funny
Guess I’m getting good at playing pretend

Cause I fall apart every morning
And I fall apart every afternoon
I hope it will change but every evening
I fall asleep still missing you
I fall asleep still missing you
Still missing you
Still missing you
Still missing you
